The passing of Shamuche

Back during the spring, Carol told the office elders that we needed a fish in the office to be our office pet. So, Elder Wall and Elder Mattinson went searching for the perfect fish and came home with a Beta. We named him Shamuche. "Why," you ask? In Bulgarian, -che is the suffix that means little or small. SO, Shamuche was named after Shamu (the whale). Little Shamu. Shamuche died earlier this week.

Here is the obituary by one of the missionaries:

On this day, the 28th of December Two-thousand and Eight, our beloved Shamuche passed from his mortal existence to the place that all good little Beta fish go when they die. He was a good Beta, loved by all who knew him. His uncanny ability to get angry at himself was much loved by those who associated with his incredible personality. We will all miss him, and cherish his memory forever. Cause of death is Elder Jewell's inability to cleanse his hands from poison. A lightly attended service was held over the commode earlier this morning. All who wish to pay their respects, please observe a moment of silence above your own commode at 10:00 p.m. this evening.

(Charles took good care of Shamuche and cleaned out his bowl every week. This week, Charles had been mixing poison to help the sister missionaries get rid of some bugs in their apartment. After mixing the poison, he cleaned Shamuche's bowl. He's thinking there may have been poison residue on his hands.)

About this blog...

As most of you know, Charles and Carol Jewell are on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They received their call in August of 2007 to serve in the Bulgaria Sofia Mission. They set off on their journey from home in San Antonio, TX to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, UT before Christmas of 2007 stopping to visit Heather (Midland, TX), Chuck (Amarillo, TX) and Kathi (Broomfield, CO) on the way. Charles and Carol arrived at the MTC on January 7, 2008 and were there training for 11 days before traveling on to Sofia, Bulgaria. This blog is so that all of you can see how they are doing! Hope you enjoy the updates...
